MM 3.0 Faxing - Need Help!

Im a little confused on how the outbound faxing works for MM.  Im looking to send outbound faxes using the outlook add in client to an external fax number.  Is there anybody out there who is pretty knowledgable on this issue?

Thanks

RE: MM 3.0 Faxing - Need Help!

I've got a customer requesting this in a few weeks so I'm in the same boat.  I did find a couple of documents about this but don't have them on my PC at the moment.  From what I recall, you print your document to the MS fax print driver.  It creates a tiff, which you attach to your e-mail.  The recipient is addressed using their fax number in a special format.

I can send you the docs if we can figure out how to exchange e-mails.  Does this forum have PM feature?

Regards,

Seezer

I think you send it using the number@domain.xxx.   918005551212@yourdomain.com and it will dial out.  It has been a long time but i will try to find it.

Okay I was able to send a fax to another subscriber within our VM domain.  But now how do I send a fax to an outside company?  Do you send that message to the Fax mailbox?  This is whats getting me.

You put the document you want to fax in the TIFF file format as seezer suggests and then send it as an attachment via email as Ken Means suggests.

Ken is not talking about email.  I know how to email a fax out Im talking about actually having the MM dial a number out of Outlook to have the fax sent out.  If I send a fax internally in my MM network I would put, 5555@vmdom.local and it would send out, however what Im looking for is to actually send a fax out to say (310) 555-1212.

Thanks.

this should send it to the outside number that is in frount of the @

1. Start Microsoft Outlook.
2. Create a new e-mail message.
3. In the To... field on the New Message window, type
fax=nnnn@mss.domain.com, where nnnn is the fax number of
the recipient, and mss.domain.com is the message storage server
and the domain name. Your system administrator will provide
this information.
4. Press TAB or CTRL + K so that the fax address is resolved and
appears underlined.
5. Right-click on the fax address in the To... field, and select
Properties.
6. On the E-mail Properties window, click Custom Type and type
MM in the E-mail type: field. This will tell Outlook to send the
message using Modular Messaging. If you do not specify this, the
fax will not be delivered
Note: The E-mail type field will display SMTP as the default value
if you have any other account configured in your Outlook
profile.
7. In the Subject field, type the desired text.
8. In the message body, type the desired text.
9. Click Send.
Once you send a fax, Modular Messaging sends a fax delivery status
notification message (fax delivery successful or failed) to your Modular
Messaging mailbox.
When you send a fax using the Modular Messaging system, the system
automatically attaches a default cover page. You can edit the cover page
details from the Fax settings in Modular Messaging. Contact your system
administrator for more information.
