Can't seem to find any answer on this one...hope it's obvious to anyone willing to share.
Right now I have four computers "hubbed" together to make a mini-network in my office. The PDC is running SMS 2.0 SP1 and SQL 7.0 SP2 'ok'. The software/hardware/remote tools clients installed fine on an NT workstation. They also installed fine onto an older WIN95 machine (P5-133). However, on the new P7-500 WIN98 only the core components installed. The System Management Properties on the client reveal the unique SMS ID as well as the rest of the "general" page. There is nothing at all in Sites or Components. The SMS Administrator on the PDC "discovered" the WIN98 machine but Client and Assigned are marked 'NO'. I've run the SMSMAN command (no command line parameters however) to review the WNMANUAL.LOG file. Get several NetwkstagetInfo fails; however, later in the log, it seems to find the SMS server. Finally ends with "Site Key #0: S01 - not writing site list data back to registry. Client is not assigned to any sites - finished". Running site boundaries of 10.150.49.0 and 10.150.50.0 to simulate "multi-devices". In the log when it "must match the following IP Subnets", I get positive readings from the NIC. But then it reads "Function return - Client not assigned". Thanks for any suggestions...I appreciate you taking the time to read this far. Be glad to talk by phone at 910-291-7519, ask for Deon.
