Using Paradox, or MySQL to update MySQL tables with Paradox data

Using Paradox, or MySQL to update MySQL tables with Paradox data

Using Paradox, or MySQL to update MySQL tables with Paradox data

(OP)
I'm currently working on a project that involves using a MySQL database to power an internal website application. Unfortunately the specific data I need is located on some Paradox tables. I've gotten Paradox to be aware of the MySQL database, through ODBC drivers, and can successfully read (and most likely write) to those tables. However, the problem I believe I have is two-fold.

1. The data I need to populate into the MySQL table comes from two Paradox tables.
2. I need to turn this into an automated process.

These are really the only two issues I have left, and the community at the MySQL forums weren't of much help, so I'm hoping to get a response here.

RE: Using Paradox, or MySQL to update MySQL tables with Paradox data

Can you be more specific about what the problem is?

Paradox works well with the mySql ODBC driver. It should be fairly easy to do a query in Paradox to combine the data from the two Paradox tables and then add the data to the mySql table.

If you need to automate the process it can be done through objectPal and run from a form or script. You can even run Paradox as a "Scheduled Task" under windows and have Paradox run the script via the command line at a certain time of day.

I use Paradox to update my mySql driven web site using the ODBC driver. It's done as a "Scheduled Task" and runs nightly at midnight, it works great and I never have to worry about it, well almost never.

RE: Using Paradox, or MySQL to update MySQL tables with Paradox data

Hello   ..  Need help with a similar issue myself..
I have built my tables and forms with PDOX10, NOW, I am looking for the intergration process needed to be able to call this info from a webserver where my site is hosted on a Unix-MySQL\PHP based system. I am hindered by a lack of knowledge so can you assist me with this intergration problem without my having to used the *%*#* PHPMyadmin version 2.6.3 running MySQL 4.1 .. there is no command line .. only GUI.. very limited usability as far as I am concerned...  using DreamWeaver MX TO INTERFACE with FTP..  and to build the graphic interface of my site

thx

Also keep an eye on this thread: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1289653&page=1

I vaguely remember a way to type in a command line using PHPMyadmin.  I'll look into it for you.

You should be able to use Dreamweaver to create php files.  I'm not sure if FTP is particularly helpful in this situation.
