Hello,

I have an Active Directory network with 3 servers and about 75 desktops that are all Windows 2000 or Windows XP machines. I have been running Symantec AV Corporate Edition 10.0 and it is about due for renewal. I recently received some price quotes from my vendor and I can purchase McAfee Active Virus Defense SMB Edition a little cheaper than the latest version of Symantec's product. I am unfamiliar with McAfee's products, can someone tell me if they have had good/bad experience with this McAfee product and how it compares with Symantec's?

Thanks.

for me, it's Mcafee everytime. I support around 35 different customers and we probably have an equal split over the lot to be honest. What I find is the biggest problem with Symantec stuff is when it goes wrong, it goes horribly wrong.
I've never used the SMB edition of McAfee as we always use the Enterprise edition with ePolicy Orchestrator as the management tool, but it's muts nuts.
There's so much more you can do with it, from a client point of view and centrally if you purchase ePO.
The only advantage you'll see in cost is SAV CE 10.1 comes with it's own reporting functionality at no extra cost, whereas you'll have to purchase epO to get the equivalent from Mcafee.
You can even manage Syamnetc products through Mcafee ePOlicy Orchestrator! Awesome.
If you ask me, it's Mcafee all the way, but each to their own I suppose!
