How do you look for a phrase then get the value?

How do you look for a phrase then get the value?

How do you look for a phrase then get the value?

(OP)
I am creating a spreadsheet to do my accounts.  At the end of the month I need to enter the Stock Value, Cash in CashBox and Money in Account.  Then make up the Monthly Financial Report.

What I want to do is setup the spreadsheet in such a way that:
1. It looks for me to type in a set phrase ie Stock Value.
2. It would then take the value entered in the cell to the left or right of this and place it in an end of month financial report.
3. It would then do the same for the other two entries.  The entries on the spreadsheet can cover 2,3 or 4 pages dependant on how busy the month was.  These entries would need to go after the last normal entry, if that makes sense.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Regards

Tarquine

RE: How do you look for a phrase then get the value?

Send me your file, Tarquine, we'll work on it. Also explain what it is you want to do. It sounds to me as if you're going about it a little more difficultly than you need to.

In other words, have the month-end sheet already made out. Have a sheet with current values on it. The month-end sheet should be linked to the current values cells.
