What is the proper syntax for SQL statemtn in a formula and onve you put this in a cell how do you present the results; in a table, column, .......

the SQL statement can be in a cell object, for example say OBJECT 1 contains the following sql in the calculation formula "select sysdate from dual".  Now create another table object and place the following in the calculation formula SELECT(STG_LDAP; [OBJ1]).  The reference to STG_LDAP needs to be a table (any table) dragged into the formula from the database window using the desired database connection.
