Forward To External Number, But Limit of 18 Digits

Forward To External Number, But Limit of 18 Digits

I am using a V3000 phone system, and I am trying to setup an "after-hours" auto-attendant to route calls to appropriate areas.  The only problem is that I need to be able to forward an incoming call to an external phone number.  This is easy to do, but there is an 18 digit limit in the forward field.  I need 23 digits to dial the external number (ex. 918001234567,,,,1234567).  It works great for numbers that do not exceed the 18 digit limit.

I wish I could use a speed dial to forward the call, because it does not have the 18 digit restriction.  Unfortunately, speed dials can not be referenced to forward a call.  All forward fields, whether on a personal operator or hunt group has this 18 digit restriction.  Does anyone know a way around this issue without purchasing a 3rd party "find me, follow me" type system (ex. Bright Arrow)?

RE: Forward To External Number, But Limit of 18 Digits

If you know about the dial plan and how to change it. You can append numbers on the back of the telephone number. The problem is the route would be for that number only.

If you call into the AutoAtt then press 1 then it can call a 800 number. If you put in a route for only that 800 number (918001234567). If you dial this number completely then append these digits.
DestinationRouteOperation Create    33     1      3 append     123456

The dial plan can get large with multi 800 numbers and different appending digits.

Hope that helps
If I knew a little more about what you are trying to do then  I can test the append for you.

RE: Forward To External Number, But Limit of 18 Digits

I was afraid that the solution would be involving the dial plan.  I haven't done much with the dial plan and was trying to avoid it, but it sounds like this is where I need to be spending my time.

Thanks for the help.  I believe you have pointed me in the right direction.  It shouldn't be too tough as I only have about 20 different 800 numbers that need to be setup.  Thanks for the example.
