looking for TrueSync - FAQ links no help

(OP)
I thought I had posted this last week, but can't find it... here goes again:

I followed the links in the FAQ looking for a download site for TrueSync.  I have a Treo 650 and I want to sync with my Sidekick 98 calendar.  One link led to a Motorola site.  In order to download the software (I think it was v. 3.1) you had to connect with Starfish's web site, which no longer exists.  The other FAQ link send you to Tice's page, which has v. 1.1.  I followed the instructions there but had no luck.  His page says that he doesn't know if it works with XP.  The Motorola site said that version does work with XP.  I'm looking for another site where the download of 3.x is actually available.  Any help would be appreciated.

I'm still searching, but I did come across Intellisync, which claims to be the progression from TrueSync.  Would Intellisync work with SK 98?

RE: looking for TrueSync - FAQ links no help

pjo1966, I have the TrueSync Installer you are looking for.  Its a 7.5 meg file I found a few years ago after Starfish and others stopped hosting it.  I don't have access to an FTP site so I don't know how to make it available to you.  Let me know how to get it to you and I'll be glad to share it.

I use Sidekick 98 running on XP Pro.  I use TrueSync to sync Sidekick to Outlook and to my Palm.  Works pretty well though some things, like multi-day events, will go from Sidekick to Outlook but not vice-versa.  Also, about once a year the sync will delete all the multi-day events from SK.  I always back up SK before the sync and check to be sure the Multi-day events are still there after the sync.  (Love those colored bars.)  Love Sidekick so it's worth the trouble but it's convenient to have everything in Outlook for access by the Outlook email client and to send and receive Calendar items.  TrueSync makes it work.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm researching the best way for you to send that file, but I'm guessing the only way may be to burn it to a disc and mail it.  I have a g-mail address with the same user name I have here in the forums.  Contact me there so we can discuss specifics.

Thanks!

I'm going to sign up at yousendit.com.  It's a free site.  Check it out.

RE: looking for TrueSync - FAQ links no help

pjo1966, thanks for the tip about yousendit.com.  I've uploaded a file containing the install file for TrueSync Plus (tsplus.exe), TrueSync Component Install (tspr6update.exe), and a document with the procedure I use for installing everything to allow me to sync Sidekick 98 with my Palm V and Outlook 2003. You can download it here: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=346F1F115C4B3643

The install can be tricky and the procedure I follow is the result of a lot of trial and error.  If things are not done in the right order and with previous settings deleted, it won't work.  I've been using this since before Outlook 2000 and it still works.

I would advise configuring TrueSync to sync only SK98 and Palm and get that working before including Outlook, if you plan to include it.  As mentioned before including Outlook can produce some undesirable results including deleting multi-day events.  Outlook 2000 used to corrupt email addresses but Outlook 2003 doesn't. Good luck!

Thanks for posting that.  Unfortunately I get an error message every time I try to download it.

RE: looking for TrueSync - FAQ links no help

Yeah, me too.  Must be a problem at yousendit.com.  Maybe try again later.  In the meantime I'll try to email it to you.  I'll have an ftp site available here at work in a few days.

RE: looking for TrueSync - FAQ links no help

Just tried the yousendit.com link above and it worked.  It will stay up until 7/13/06.  Good luck.

RE: looking for TrueSync - FAQ links no help

Just found another solution.  You can download TrueSync Component Install from the following website, along with lots of other legacy programs.

The file from tice's web page did not work for me (see first post).  I'm downloading your file from yousendit now.  Hopefully it will work better.  Your instructions were a little more in depth.  Maybe that will make the difference.

Thanks for going out of your way to do this.  I appreciate it..
