Problem with multiple object with unique id

Problem with multiple object with unique id

Problem with multiple object with unique id

I'm usin rational rose v2002 and I have lots of problem with objects which have the same unique id. Is there a solution to correct this problem, I think it causes other problems like the "show usage" of a method" that doesn't funtion correctly because of this ?
There is an example of warnings when I load a control unit :
15:10:14|  Warning: This model has multiple objects with the same unique id: 17F637C71416.

RE: Problem with multiple object with unique id

I have encountered this predicment on many occassions. It seems from the information provided it points towards configuration management of controlled packages. When a object is created it is assigned a unique id, if for some reason one elects to move this object to another location in the browser to use or work on and forget to inform those configuring the .mdl and another is working the same model in a different .cat and did not move the object. Turning in the different work for intergration to the .mdl rose will, in most cases, allow this to take place simply by accepting that there are now two classes with the same values and wala, now you have multiple objects with same name that in most cases would be assigned the same unique id. although they be in different locations within the model.  Only way to resolve is careful config management.  Generally, modeling in the browser leads to this problem(as opposed to diagrams), or just a general lack of knowledge. I hope this helps to resolve your issues.  I don't believe this is related to the show usage issue, that seems to be a rose bug in general.  I have had same problem and have addressed that this maybe occurring because of someone changing the the unique id's manually, which is a no-no,  but there are to many other having this same problem.
