1st time user, all image preview files changed to PSP 7

1st time user, all image preview files changed to PSP 7

I am a newcomer to digital photography with A fuji finepix 2400. I was just taking basic photos which downloaded into Image preview files. I could print easily via print and then set properties to glossy paper. However due to red eye, I installed PSP 7 and all files have changed. I do not know how to set up to print to A4 and when I hit print I did not get an option to adjust print properties, it just started. Need to print some good A4 prints by Thursday, after removing red eye etc, Can I get some simple instructions?

RE: 1st time user, all image preview files changed to PSP 7

When you say all files have changed, do you mean the icon has changed in explorer, from whatever they were before to the psp logo?

If so, go to: 'File \ File Format Associations' and then de-select (un tick) the relevant file type for your index prints.  This should stop PSP opening them automatically, etc.

To adjust the printer settings in psp all you have to do is go to 'File \ Page setup', hit the 'Printer' button and then the 'Properties' one.

I find it v. useful to use the 'File \ Print Preview' option before printing anything from PSP; if PSP is printing your images full page then just select the scale option from print preview and set to 100% to get the proper image size.

Hoepfully this should help, but who knows? =)

Need anything else, gimmie a shout!

Thanks Petitpal, this is a wonderful website!
I did your deselect and ended up with no picture icon logo, but soon realised that right click on any photo then properties, then changing programme type for opening, changes all photos.
Your advice on File Print preview, after realising I had to hit the setup button was spot on.
Any tips on books to buy or website with easy how to directions for PSP 7? I messed around last night for hours with effects is red eye reduction, but found it hard going.
Also how do I get rid of the annoying icon which opens up every time I hit a PSP photo image?

RE: 1st time user, all image preview files changed to PSP 7

To be honest, I have no idea which books are good and which not; others here may be able to tell you!  I've never bought a PSP book, I just tend to learn things as I go along.  There are some good general tutorials on http://www.designsbymark.com but if you have a root through some of the threads in this forum you will find good links to other sites!  (If not just start a new thread asking for some!)

I'm not sure what you mean by the annoying icon; if you explain it again I'm sure I can tell you how to sort it!

=)

PetitPal.
