Possible btrieve problem with running new software program

Possible btrieve problem with running new software program

I recently purchased MyBusinessCheckwriter software and have run into a problem.  Everytime I go through the process of creating a new business check and get to the end where I click Finish and the check appears on screen for further customization, the program freezes.  I have spoken with Tech Support for this program, which is handled by Elibrium, who states I am not the only one having this particular problem.  It has been suggested that it may have to do with my btrieve files (something I know nothing about) and I was given this address to seek help.  I am using Windows98 and have an HP LaserJet 4P printer.  I have uninstalled the program several times, uninstalled my printer drives, downloaded new ones off the internet and reinstalled new printer drivers and reinstalled everything again with no correcting of the problem.

Do you have any suggestions?  If I do need to update my btrieve files, how do I determine what version is currently running on my system?  Thanks for your help!

RE: Possible btrieve problem with running new software program

Btrieve shouldn't have anything to do with printing. There are no printing functions in Btrieve.  Btrieve is strictly a data manager.  I've been working with Btrieve for several years and usually when this type of problem occurs, it's usually an application problem.  The easiest way to check the version of Btrieve is to look for WBTRCALL.DLL (if it's a 16 bit application) or WBTRV32.DLL (for 32 bit applications).
Did the tech support you spoke to have any other suggestions or reasons they thought it was Btrieve related?
