New wrinkle, after a few Windows Microsoft Updates, of course.  When trying to open the remote website, I get a message saying to click on Remote Website Properties, as though I have never done that before.  Huh?  It normally just opens.  When I click on Remote blah blah, I get an error message that says "The server extensions were unable to access the file httpd.conf. Please check the file permissions."   Well, I searched for httpd.conf, and no such file resides on my computer.  No wonder it can't be accessed!  Am I supposed to have such a file?  Do they have them at Safeway?

Arrrrrgh .... it was a server problem, of course.  Had to uninstall/reinstall FrontPage extensions on the server.  It's a good thing my server has a good forum, because a lot of other people were suffering from the same thing.
