kxta624/tvs50 ring group

(OP)
I have most of the system set the way I want it, but have 1 problem I would like to overcome. When someone calls (I will use custom 1 for day calls as an example), they will hear press 1 for ... press 2 for... etc. Some will go to other custom menus, some will transfer to a voice mailbox, and some to a specific extension. But what I would like is ..."or just stay on the line and someone will be right with you". When there is no DTMF input, I would like the 3 front desk phones all to ring. I cannot see how to do this (if it is possible). I have figured some poor workaround, like no dtmf ringing the operator which would be 1 extension, and if busy or no answer, transfer to 2nd op, then 3rd op (which would cover the 3 front phones), but I really want all 3 to ring, and with the operators, I assume if op 1 phone is ringing, op 2 or 3 cannot pickup until it cycles to their extension.
Thanks for any help with this.

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

if the 624 does not do ring groups loop a ext over to an unused line port and wala!!

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

(OP)
Thanks for the reply.  I am not sure what you mean, could you clarify this a little more.

Thanks

Doc

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

take an unused analog port for example ext 124
connect it to line six of the 624 make  ext's a,b,c
ring on line 6 that being said now  you have
your no dtmf entry as ext 124 so now all 3 exts ring on
line 6 (old school phantom extension)

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

(OP)
This still makes no sense to me.  We have three CO lines coming in.  There is no second card for lines 4-6.  I assume when you said line 6 you meant a CO line.  Second, as far as an unused analog port, are you referring to one of the jacks on the 624 box?  First, you assume that all the jacks are not already used, and if that is true, are you saying to connect a line to run from the #6 CO line to the jack that is assigned to ext 124?  That wouldn't make sense to me since the #6 CO line needs come into the box, not connect within the box (meaning another jack). If that is all correct so far, then the next question is how do you make ext's a,b,c ring on line 6?  But back to the original premise, the card has 3 CO lines and all are used, so if that be the case, I'll have to wait for another solution (I am not buying another card just to have a CO line that I wouldn't need anyway).

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

cwc's way is probly the best way to do it.  extension groups in the 624 aren't much good.  looping and analogue extension back into a spare line port and ring assigning that line port isn't very hard except if you haven't got a spare line port.  If this is the case, your out of luck really.

I think the extension group memory block was 600 but there was something else that needed to be set, and I can't remember.  MB600 is a start though...

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

you may want to hire a tech because I broke it out in plan engish!!

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

its time to read the book you are looking for the pilot
number if there is one for each extension group.or you may
be able to get the tvs to park the call and page 3 extensions.
you relize that a td 816 would have been the better choice if you needed phantom ext or true hunt groups!!

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

Shardian,

I am looking into a new card possibly to make the line 6 option work, but if you think of anything else, please let me know.  In the meantime, you had this at the bottom of your message.

"I think the extension group memory block was 600 but there was something else that needed to be set, and I can't remember.  MB600 is a start though..."

What were you referring to?

Thanks,

Doc

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

he means data field 600 see page 4-102 of your install manual!!

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

Hey i was just reading the manual  and hunt groups
are set up at 600 enabled in 100 and group hunt type  can be set in 101 I am certian that hunt groups work but I haven't figuired out what the pilot numbr is for lets say hunt group
one I am thinking that if you set a group that when you ring the lowest number in the group it rings all phones
like the old 123211d you may wanna try that put your 3 exts into
one group field 600 the turn on hunting in field 100
and then set that field for terminate in field 101 then make a test intercom call ring the lowest extension see if all 3 phones ring ... If that doesn't work i'dd get on the  the dog and bone with panasonic and ask politely what is the fdn for hunt group 1,2,2 or whatever you decided to put those
phones in and I now can see why you had problems with this
because I can not find the fdn info in the manual i'll
look more cause now I feel like a jerk for telling you to read the book and I can not find the answer myself  will get back to you if i figuir it out I kinda find it hard to beleive that no one else has played with hunt goups on the analog

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

hey try 19 plus group number  it may be like the
191 192 etc have an email into tech support more to follow
S!!

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

well heres the deal I think (this was after flipping thru the 824 book it explained hunt groups a little better) I think if you were to take a dummy ext and and put it to a hunt group with the other 3 phones that you want to ring   take it off or possibly put it into DND all the time and if that group is set for circular hunting the other 3 phones should all ring at one time hope this helps let me know.

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

i just got my reply from tech support it is like I said
so if if you wanted "You can put extensions in a group and set it to circular hunt, but there is no FDN for the groups you would direct the calls to the lowest member of the group."

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

(OP)
Thanks for all the research.  It did not work.  Just to be sure we are on the same page, here is what I did.  As a test, I was using extension 101 so I did not use it in the test.  I have put extension 117, 118, and 121 on extension group 2 using option 600.  Then I set option 100 for group 2 to enable, set 101 for group 2 to circular.  Then, I put extension 118 on DND.  I then tried to page extension 118 from 101.  It just gave me the busy signal for the extension.  I then called the office and let it go to the custom menu and typed in extension 118 (to simulate having extension 118 as the extension to transfer to).  It went to the voice mail for extension 118.

First, did I do what you were explaining or did I miss anything, and if not, any other ideas?

Thanks again for your help.

Doc

Ok, looks like I was typing my message when you just sent yours.  I forgot to ask from the last message, what is FDN (I know, probably obvious but my brain is about fried by now:))

Doc

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

floating  directory number or like an ext number on the td 191 is the fdn for hunt group one.

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

(OP)
Thanks,  and as far as i can tell from the manual, no fdn for the 624.

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

yes that stuff above in quotations  was from panasonic tech support thers is no pilot number for hunt groups  on the 624

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

(OP)
So back to the original question, just want to make sure that what I tried as stated above was in fact correct, and this does not work.  Or is there something I missed and should still try.

Thanks again

RE: kxta624/tvs50 ring group

cwc3,

Quick question, per our conversation on hunting, I looked in the 824 install manual and there is no reference to hunting.  Did a search on the pdf file with 0 results.  I am looking in the KX-TA824 installation manual.  Am I looking in the wrong place.  Let me know the title of the manual and what page you found the more in depth explanation.

Thanks

Doc
