I train employees to use an application through Attachmate's EXTRA! Personal Client. Now management would like for me to test the users of the application. I plan to give the students several scenarios that they will have to troubleshoot and enter into the system. As they finish the test, I will be required to make a hard copy of the results. However, I haven't been able to come up with an efficient way of capturing on paper what a student types into their individual training PC. Doing a simple print screen for each page will not work well, especially when I have an average class size of 12-15 students and they all share the same printer. That will only create confusion over what pages belong to each student. Can anyone suggest a good method for collecting the test results? Are there any pre-made tools that can capture the data or do you know of any of Extra! macro tips that can be used to achieve the results I want?

RE: Screen Capture Assistance Needed.

Are the responses you with to capture all on 1 screen of EPC? In other words, the info will be there without having to change screens or hit enter.

If so, you can kick a macro that will get this info you wish and store it in a file. Alternately, you could have the program "grade" their result if you wanted. Both of these options would require some coding in EB. If you're new to EB (Extra Basic) then there would likely be a learning curve.

It would seem that the printed version would be the best route to go for a 1 time problem. Possibly with more details I could give better suggestions.

Thank you so much for replying, calculus.

Hopefully, this will shed some light on my problem: I am going to need to collect several screens of information for each student. And there will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 650 students.  ::Sigh::

RE: Screen Capture Assistance Needed.

I'd suggest you use code for that. I don't know how much time you have to get it done.

It is possible to use code to collect whatever data you need and write it to a file. See the FAQ listed above for a good start.

Thanks again. I'm going to review the materials you suggested and give it a try.
