Installing Informix-Connect on Linux

(OP)
I had installed Informix Dynamic Server 7.3 on a Linux machine without any problem. The INFORMIXDIR variable is set to /opt/informix.

When I tried to install Informix-Connect 2.x on the same Linux machine after that, I received the error messages -
file /opt/informix/msg/en_us/0333/xopen.iem from install of iconn-2.40.UC1-1 con
flicts with file from package IDS-7.31.UD1-1
file /opt/informix/msg/itoxmsg.pam from install of iconn-2.40.UC1-1 conflicts wi
th file from package IDS-7.31.UD1-1
.........

I am using the command 'rpm -iv CONNECT.RPM' to install the Informix-Connect package and the INFORMIXDIR is also /opt/informix.

Appreciate all the help.

RE: Installing Informix-Connect on Linux

hello keithl,

i think informix-connect is a part of 7.31.ud1 so you do not have to install separately.

just make an entry for some other informix-server in your sqlhosts file, /etc/services and /etc/hosts and try to connect to it via dbaccess / connect to find out.

regards,

michael
