Recursion in Stored Procedures

(OP)
I am looking for a script that will "walk" a tree structure in one table.

Specifically I am working with pstreenode table in peoplesoft where an identifier column (x) in a row equates to an identifier column (y) in another row.  If you follow this tree stucture "up" the table you get a hierarchal sturcture (ie department rollup).

RE: Recursion in Stored Procedures

Hi cgiles
If I understood correctly It can be done without recursion also. Just see the respone I wrote for "directory". It's for exploring one department. Add one outer while loop to expore the complete tree.
