Is it possible to stop someone from using the Vmail reset password by restricting there phone.

RE: Restricting Password use

Anybody????

RE: Restricting Password use

I'm guessing you mean the password to reinitialize CallPilot through F982?  I've always just changed the F982 password to something that isn't obvious.

Only sets it won't work on for sure are the 7100/7208 phones.

RE: Restricting Password use

I would change the password alternatively you could set extn lock to full but this will stop user from accessing most feature codes

RE: Restricting Password use

I believe the question is how do you stop someone from using Feature 985 and resetting the Master Password.

Is there a way to disable Feature codes?

Yes NARSBARS has it right, someone knows the reset password and keeps reseting the Admin password so I can't reset Vmail box passwords. I have to use the i2050 phone at the site to do the F985 and reset the password back to the default and than login and change it again.

RE: Restricting Password use

I only have one Suggestion left, why dont you change F985 to another available F code that way when your problem/ customer types F985 its returns invalid feat code.

phones1

Please go on, how do you go about changing the F985 to another code?
I have learned so much, now I know how little I know.
Thank you

Yes please tell us how to change the F985.

RE: Restricting Password use

For the call pilot take a Database back-up & reset the system so you have to re-initialize, while building from scratch there is an option you can access too set the Feat codes if you are still stuck i can find my notes from when i did this 6 months ago, but if you have the right docs you can look it up yourself, let me know Cheers

RE: Restricting Password use

You could also typ Feat: FXTEST & delete the relevant feature code although this will leave you knackered should you need to reset the password yourself

RE: Restricting Password use

If you do an FXTEST can you reload the Feature code if you need to? I am guessing from your post above that you cannot.
I will check the docs but if you can post any short cuts from your notes it would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Restricting Password use

Based on my somewhat limited experience with removing feature codes, I think to re-load a feature after xftest would require a re-install of the VM. I also think that if you did change the feature codes to the lower level- they would all change, which would probably not do much good since whoever is changing the password now, would most likely be able to figure out how to do it then. He would see that his new method of accessing his mailbox was f911 for example, then just work his way up until he got the display of the VM DN.

Have you checked the VM logs/ reports? I believe that a change of the admin password would show up, along with the DN it was initiated from. If the culprit is changing it from his own phone each time it may help in identifying him.

RE: Restricting Password use

to change feat codes type Feat:9*1(VM only & from handset),hit next until you see feat 985 (change). I personally changed it to 904, i have also just checked this works on both a UK & US Build 3.6 BCM 1000. looking at my notes the reason i took a backup & reset the call pilot side was because it didn't like the change at first(this was on an Enterprise eadge 2.5 ver), but today (3.6) took it no problem. i wouldn't change all of the associated codes but just this one. Any problems let me know.

RE: Restricting Password use

I just tried F9*1 on two BCMs with 3.6 and a MICS with 6.1 and while I can see the F code I have no option to change anything. What am I missing?

RE: Restricting Password use

POSS the fact my test units were fresh out the box & i set codes via F 9*1 for VM befor completing the build, With the call pilot on MICS take a backup of database reset unit so you need to reinstall befor F983 (config) try setting your codes in 9*1, hope this Helps!
