network connectivity problems

(OP)
I have a 10/100bt network I'm using a 3com Linkbuilder FMS II hub.  When I connect the hub to a live wall outlet that I am able to get on the network with no problem w/o a hub the cat 5 cable going to the wall into plug one on the hub gets no link light any other compters that I plug into the hub get link lights but no network connectivity.  I pretty certain it is not a hub issue but don't know why I can't get a network link through a hub.

RE: network connectivity problems

If you are plugging a noraml hyb port into a standard Ethernet jack you will need to use a crossover cable. (pairs 2 & 3 reverse).

If your hub has a built-in crossover jack, thta and only that jack could connect to the wall with a standard cable.
