nested functions problems

hello all, i have been using approach for about 5 years, and i can usually get it to do what i want, except for now. i need a calculation to create off a nested if statement, (i think). it goes like this. if total <500, 1.19,>500<600, 2.38, >600 <700, 3.57, and so on up to 2500, 47 different greater than less than computations. is this possible? i have spent hours trying to get this to work, with no luck. any help or suggestions would be greatly appriciated. thanks in advance.
maybe i could pull from a table or something, i am totally confused....
