Movie plays, but playback head won't move!

Movie plays, but playback head won't move!

This is a quaint problem that has turned up in a couple of our lab machines (G4 Macs). In *any* movie, new or old, when we click play, the playback head acts as if there is a looping script in the first frame. Only there is no looping script. I have search Director references for some obscure preference that would freeze the playback head in place, with no luck. I even re-installed the las update.

Any suggestions?

Test with fresh barebones movie - if it fails then trash the preference file and even if that fails then reinstall Director from scratch…!

RE: Movie plays, but playback head won't move!

Late Friday afternoon panic. Gee. I installed Director updates, did everything...except re-boot the machine. It finally dawned on me to try that, and the problem was gone.

Appropriate to 'fess up on April 1.
