Mimer install problem at OpenVMS

Mimer install problem at OpenVMS

Mimer install problem at OpenVMS

Please somebody!

At beginning of install process i got this message:
A System $ @mimsetup9
MIMER version 9.2.3B Feb 14 2005
Node name: ALPHA1
Creating a new Mimer license key file at SYS$SPECIFIC:[SYSMGR]MIMERKEY.DAT
A default license is added that allows a limited number of concurrent
users for development and testing. To install new licenses, use the
    MIMLICENSE command.
%DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activating image PTHREAD$RTL
-CLI-E-IMGNAME, image file
-SYSTEM-F-SHRIDMISMAT, ident mismatch with shareable image
A System $

What is the problem with our pthread?
I tried to use both the PTHREAD-V0300 patch and the
PTHREAD-V0400 patch.
I don't know what should i do...

RE: Mimer install problem at OpenVMS

To get an explanation of the error message, try:

Basically, you tried to execute MIMEXE9:MIMLICENSE, and this executable was linked with a different PTHREAD library than the one you have installed.

To help you, I need to know:

1. The exact OpenVMS version number
     $ write sys$output f$getsyi("version")

2. The output from this command:
     $ pipe anal/image sys$share:pthread$rtl | sea/win=(0,2) sys$pipe EIHD$K_LIM

RE: Mimer install problem at OpenVMS

Thanks for the quick answer pesc!

Here are the information:

A Molnar $ pipe anal/image sys$share:pthread$rtl | sea/win=(0,2) sys$pipe EIHD$K
                image type: shareable (EIHD$K_LIM)
global section major id: %X'01', minor id: %X'000002'
                        match control: ISD$K_MATLEQ

A Molnar $ write sys$output f$getsyi("version")

RE: Mimer install problem at OpenVMS

You get the error message because MIMEXE9:MIMLICENSE.EXE requires a PTHREAD$RTL library with version 1.4 or later. As can be seen by these commands:

The problem seems to be that the current release is built under OpenVMS 7.3-2.

To fix this you can either:
1. Upgrade OpenVMS to 7.3-2
2. Download and use MIMER921D instead of MIMER923B
3. Wait for Mimer to build MIMER923B under an earlier OpenVMS version

Good luck!

RE: Mimer install problem at OpenVMS

Thanks the detailed answer.

Unfortunately, the company can't afford now the cost of upgrade.

But... i don't understand why Mimer says the software installable for VMS 7.3 if it useless...

Thanks, again
and i hope somebody read by the Mimer company this forum

RE: Mimer install problem at OpenVMS

I work for Mimer.

The Software is intended to be usable with OpenVMS 7.2 and later (when the correct patches are included). Due to an error, the release was built on VMS 7.3-2. We will rebuild the release in the near future to allow for earlier OpenVMS versions.
