Your user profile was not loaded correctly!

I tried to delete a corrupted profile by deleting the associated folder in C:\Users and now when trying to log on to my computer, i receive the following message:

Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile.

I have tried to recreate the folder to no avail, i am running vista business 32bit edition on a domain.

Are there any remnants of this "almost deleted" user in User Accounts in the Control Panel, or in Local Users and Groups in the MMC, that you can use to remove that deleted user account?
