We have set up a 120 day Advanced server on a HP LX Pro dual pentium pro 200.
And set it is the DC with Active Directory rumming in mixed mode and it is on its own network.
When we have tryed to add a windows 2000 pro pc to the domain we get this error "Your computer can not be joined to the domain because the following error has occoured: The network path was not found."

What are you using for name resolution? How does the 2000 pro obtain it's IP address? Is the pro machine on the same subnet as the Adv server?

Can the pc ping servername.domainname.com? Glen A. Johnson

Try manully adding the computername to the domain machines list, assuming you are using Server Manager, then on the workstation try joining it again. Have a look at your DNS configure perhaps be as bold as to re-configure DNS.

Start at the beginnig. Ping the loopback ip address. 127.0.0.1
Then can you ping the server ping[servername] or ping[servername.domain.co.uk]or[com]

Try tracert [server ip address]

all from cmd.

Do you have the same network protocals on the machines?

This has been resolved by adding the DNS and WINS server infomation in to the Host PC (win2k Pro)

So thanks for the help...
