XSM install in SMG sites

Hi All,

How do you configure an SMG site with an xsm? Can I have a Master XSM at each site? Here is a little bit of information.

Main Site is CS1000E with 1010 chassi's

SMG site has IPE Modules with MGXPEC Cards, CPPM(CPU), and CPDC(SS). There are more than one SMG site off the SMT1000E.

I want to build each site with a master xsm but I'm not sure that can be done.


Any information would be appreciated.

There is no XSM capability in either a Cabinet or Chassis including the 1010. Only XSM in SG or MG type systems.

Thanks for the reply. Avaya gave me a document about how to install a newer version of the System Monior Card using a MGXPEC card. We are using the MGXPEC cards in the IPE module columns. I have set the dip switches according to the Avaya documents and when I stat the XSM in LD 37 it says there is no MASTER XSM programmed. Maybe I should reopen a ticket with Avaya.

So do you have the XSM built in LD 17 under ADAN?

I do indeed. The associated TTY is enabled too.

How are you connecting the System Monitor to the TTY port?

Sorry for the long delay in responding. I finally received a document from Avaya or should I say a power point presentation. It shows how to setup the SMG system monitor and to build a tty. My question is......is the smg sending all power messages back to the main cs1000E. The main smg is a cs1000E 1010 chassi configuration and it has no xsm. SO, does it make the system monitor cards in the SMG's useless? I have an Avaya engineer looking into it but haven't had any luck in getting feed back.
