Xserver configuration

I have installed Linux 6.1 on my system. The video card is configured but the Xserver does not work with startx command.

Try the linux (server) foroum in the MIS dept on this site...

Hi pretty priti,
What does ur "startx" say ?
If ur shell says "startx: command not found" then
PATH is not correct.
Does ur X-Server Crash ?

Do not rejoice that ur code works.
it might be a special case of an error :-(

hi priti,

do you have .xinitrc, with specific Xserver specified in it ?
btw, my Xserver crashes after 5 minutes of start. any clue on this ????

Hi Priti

Just check the file /etc/X11/XF86Config file. check the tag driver under which have to mentioned the correct driver name.
If u have allready mentioned the correct driver name. may be that linux does not support that hardware.
To check the hardware support list for linux check the website redhat.com

U r having problem regarding the display card. U also check it weather it is properly mentioned in XF86Cconfig file or not.
One problem may be there . but for still u do that
