Recently my XP computer has been getting a licensing error when trying to connect to our 2003 servers. Basically saying that the license on my box cannot be upgraded. I can connect to 2000 servers just fine. What's up?

What a headache. Check out this lengthy thread on Experts Exchange:

If you bought Windows XP before April 24, 2003 you are entitled to a free TS CAL

Here's some eligibility requirements:

Hope this helps you. Seems like it would be easier to enter the Miss America Pageant than get Terminal Services Licensing straight in one's head, eh?

It's actually not that bad. If you are connecting to a 2003 terminal server, you'll need a CAL, no matter what OS you are using.

If you are connecting to a 2000 TS and you are running 2000 or XP, you don't need a separate CAL. There is a built in pool on the licensing server.

As mentioned above, you can get an upgrade license if you purchased your XP before that date. But people who have purchased before that date are getting less and less.
