Okay, Here is my issue.

I have 3 network drives S,Y,Z. They were connected to network locations and the option to reconnect on logon was selected. I had to make adjustments therefore these drives were disconnected.

Upon restart they came back. They show up under My computer as Disconnected Network Drive(S:)and so on. The Type of drive shows Disconnected Network Drive. When I Right-Click on it, and choose disconnect it gives me an error that states that this network connection could not be found. If I use the Net Use "drive Letter" /delete, it gives me the same message (The network connection could not be found). I go into the registry and I can not find any mention of these network drives.

I go into command prompt and use the Net Use command and it states that there are not entries in the list. The biggest problem is that if I open either one of this mapped drives, it will still open the drives it was originally referenced to.

Can anyone help me get rid of these mapped drives once and for all!!

That is strange. Again, you have tried the syntax

net use s: /delete

What if you go to safe mode, can you login as that user and try to delete them from there?

You can always manually move your profile folder, let XP create a new one, but you will have to copy over your documents, desktop icons, favorites, e-mail data files, and reinstall network printers. The equivalent of resetting up the user from scratch.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.

I have exactly the same issue with a PC that maps drives through login scripts. Each user has the same drive letters with the exception that everyone's U-drive points to a folder accessible only by them. This behavior has caused the U-drive from the previous user to get permanently mapped and you can't make it go away. You can log on as anyone including domain admin and you cannot get rid of the mapped drive.

I have alos heard some other IT folks grumbling about this issue in the past couple of days...maybe it a new feature!!

I had a coworker send me a file called UPHClean-Setup.MSI which I installed on the PC and after a reboot the problem went away.

It has something to do with a previous user was running the wrong hive in the registry or some stupid thing.

Anyway, Google the filename and maybe you can find out where he got it (he can't remember).
