I have a new system that I need to attach an array to. I installed an Adaptec 29320 SCSI card and the system booted fine. I loaded the latest drivers and all was well. I attached an external array to the system and the system hangs at the XP logo with the blue line below it. If I disconnect hte array it works fine. If I attach the array to a seperate system that system boots fine. If I attach a different array to the new system it will not boot. I added a different SCSI card to the system and moved the existing SCSI card to a different slot and it booted normally and I thought I was in the clear. All drives were recognized and everything appeared to be functioning properly. When I shut down the system and removed what I thought to be a faulty SCSI card and booted the system back up the system hung in the same location. I verified I removed the original SCSI card and not the replacement I installed. The system will still boot with no array attached but as soon as it is and powered on the machine hangs. I tried to enable boot logging but apparently it does not even get that far because no log was created. Any ideas??

From all the info you provide, it sounds to me like your SCSI IDs are wrong in some way. You either have 2 devices with the same ID or you have one device in your external array with a higher ID than the boot drive. Your SCSI card should be at 7, your boot drive should be at 6 and the remaining devices down from there. To play it safe, I'd start the IDs of the external devices at 15 and work down to 8. Hope this helps.

Sorry should have updated this. The cable is the only thing I had not swapped around and sure enough that was the issue. Thanks for your input though!
