Hi -
I have already posted this in the Office forum but received no replies. Maybe someone here has an answer!

I have a strange problem. I have made a site using Frontpage 2002 on a machine that runs ME. I published it to another machine that is running XP, with SP1, and although it allowed me to publish the site, gave a message that said that the verion I was using on the first machine has more up to date server extentions than the XP machine and advised me to get updated server extentions for the server. When I checked the update site I could only find server extension updates for NT and 2000 - not XP. I downloaded and installed them anyway - but the site got completely messed up in the process when I tried to re-publish everything with the new extentions. I had to uninstall IIS completely - delete the inetpub directory - and re-install IIS. This brought me full circle to the beginning - The Frontpage on the ME machine allowed the new publish - but again gave the message to update the extentions (it said some menus and dialog boxes would not work correctly).
I have no idea what to do next - so would appreciate any help or advice from the members!
Thanks in advance,
Kim Leece

Smah - Thanks for the attention. The site you gave is where I tried to update the extensions from in the first place. They didn't work properely though - when I tried to update the site pages I lost the headers - and all the body text double loaded. The download file itself has a list of the operating systems it is for - and that is basically NT and all the 2000 versions. It does not specifically include XP. Now I would have thought that XP would have been OK (considering that it's basically NT/2000) but as I had the problems am now not so sure!
I am going to try again today to update it and see if I can get it to work - with this post I was hoping someone was going to point me to a different update file for XP but now suspect that it doesn't exist.
Maybe I need a Linux partition!!!!!

Kim Leece.

OK - the problem seems to be fixed. I re-installed the extensions again and everything seems to be working now. It must have been some strange bug in the first place!

Thank you smah! I will look into it!
Trouble is I have never used linux although I have realized for a long time that most "techies" rave about it. (there must be a good reason I suppose!)
