XP vs W2k

We currently have NT 4.0 on all desktops. We are going to migrate to either w2k or xp. WE will have a Novell 5 or 6 backbone. This migration will take place in about 6 months.
My techs want to go to w2k but not sure why. The novell client should work with both? Is there any reason to go to w2k instead of xp?
