Just got a 180 days licensed version of windows Longhorn. It is of course a beta version. My first impressions are, if it would be more stable it could be an excellent upgrade from xp.
It has a new GUI and a newer version of IE. Pop up blockers, download managers etc. It seems to be win xp with a new overcoat but has many improvements. The GUI looks very nice indeed. The only think I do not like is that it will not install on a fat 32 drive, it converts the drive to NTSF. If you like it or not. Otherwise the final version should look and feel better as xp. I realise that it probably will change a lot in the final release. But apart from the bugs it seems to be ok. Regards

I just got a copy of Windows 2003 from Microsoft [also the 180-day version] and since it is the Server version, the NTFS part makes perfect sense. A Workstation version wouldn't necessarily need NTFS only.

NTFS will stay in as it is all aimed at enhanced security witch will not be possible on FAT32.

And Windows2003 is ALWAYS a server, there is nor Workstation version, that will remain XP until Longhorn comes out.

Because of the Whidby file system, there is no FAT32 for Longhorne.
