Here's the setup.

3 Win XP Home Edition
cat5e cable connecting all through a 10/100 switch

I'm not the person who set up the network and I believe the person who did, used the network setup wizard.

Here's the issue,

I am unable to browse the entire network. However I can ping every machine in the office by name and IP both. I can access each machine by a UNC call "\\Computername"

the firewalls are turned off and all the settings are fine.

I was under the impression that there isn't a Master Browser between the three computers... That or I need to change the network settings from what ever it has right now to windows networking login.....

Has anyone encountered this before and if so, what steps resolved the issue.

Thank you

Martin

Your connectivity seems fine, you just are failing Netbios name resolution.

1. Workgroup name the same on all machines
2. Unique computer names, all machines
3. Under TCP/IP Properties, Netbios over TCP/IP enabled, all machines
4. Client for Microsoft Networks, and File and Printer Sharing enabled, all machines
5. Something, anything, shared on all machines
6. A real logon is made every time on all machines: not Escape key, or Cancel; just a real username and password, then enter or Okay.
7. Check that the Computer Browser service is set to start automaticly and is started on all machines. To do this, Right-click My Computer, Manage, Services, Services, and scroll down to check the status of Computer Browser.

You should then look in Network Places to see at least that machine immediately. Hit View, Refresh several times to see if it will populate the whole Network. It can take several minutes at first.
