XP tahes ages to shutdown

Anybody any ideas why this happens, Ive had serveral reports from various people that there XP can take 10mins to hsutdown. I intially thought it was the domain, but i recently flattened my Lappy and before i even joined it it took a while.

Anyone know if Microsoft updates are to blame or anything i can switch off to make it faster.
