I recently installed a second hard drive to my Windows98SE system along with a DVD burner to start doing some home movie transfers. Realizing that XP offered some distinct advantages in this process over 98, I purchased an OEM full version XP home edition. I did not want to upgrade hearing that clean installs are better. I tried reformatting C: from a 98 setup floppy but could not remember how I did it before. Anyway, unsucessfull with that, I tried to install XP on top of 98. Of course the full version will not upgrade and the full version wanted to load temporary files onto C:, making it impossible to format during install. The only way I figured out to install XP "cleanly" was to install XP on my second HD, use that to reformat the first, then install XP on the first, and finally reformat the second to wipe out the OS. But now, having done all that, here is my problem other than being a computer moron. When I boot up, I am given a black screen option to decide within 30 seconds, or go with default, to load the latest XP OS on my C: drive, load the now non-existing XP OS on my D: drive, or load the now non-existing 98 OS on my C: drive. How do I remove this option? NOTE: I haven't installed much other than the OS so I am not opposed to doing a completely "clean" install if you tell me how.
