I have been running Remote Desktop via OpenVPN for a year or so and yesterday I loaded XP SP3. Now Remote desktop cannot connect to the remote server. I can ping the server Ok though. Any ideas how I can recover from this?
Thanks,
Deek

This is a SP2 (two) fix, it might be worth a look at.

Win-XP and SP2 doesn't work with ANY OpenVPN version

Someone said that they had a problem after SP3 and solved it with this comment "OVPN service was not started in the service". Maybe you can check for any failed Services, see what is in the Event Viewer too.

This is a SP3 RC1 issue.

VPN stops working post SP3

See what else you can dig up at Google?

I now know of 2 work arounds to this problem. It's still broken in the WSUS release of SP3! One is a reg hack you can find here:

Another work around is to hack your openvpn client config file and add the following to it:

ip-win32 netsh

I'm assuming you are runwith with Administrator. The problem is the dhcping of the address to the tunnel adapter. This uses netsh to put on the address and not dhcp.
