Soon, but it would be only a guess as to the actual date. My guess: mid-September. I honestly thought a July release was likely, but there are some odd things that have shown up in RC2.
On a non-critical machine, go ahead and install RC2. I am happy on four of them, and unhappy on one, although it is not a biggie issue. All were installed with RC1 without issue.
SP2 is essentially a done deal for Microsoft. On the code side, there have been minor changes since RC1. It is the deployment side that has been an issue. Part and parcel with SP1 is a revamp of the Windows Update service, and this has proven difficult.
When that issue is sorted (should be soon), then on the code side SP2 will RTM. The Deployment Guides get rewritten, the necessary GPOs explained, and the slipstream instructions.
June was a good guess way back when; my own guess is September. A lot of people are guessing July.
Again, the issue now is deployment, and the revamped Windows Update. Service Pack 2 is essentially in code a done deal.
