I have a Dell GX-260 w/Win XP SP2 After cleaning some print jobs out the spooler I rebooted the PC. Logging back in I noticed the desktop theme had reverted back to its default and the wallpaper back to bliss. All the short cuts were gone, and upon inspecting my D:\ (where I had My Docs Folder) the whole drive is blank. I rolled the system back to the day before's restore point and the desktop/icons came back, but when I log out and back in it reverts to default and my short cuts go away. I have tried the following:
Ran Antivirus
Checked the partions and wrote some files to d:\
Ran several Undelete/Unformat Utilities
Tried a linux boot cd and mounted the drive but still no files.
Removed the drive and put it in another PC and repeated the above steps.
Any Ideas? The DATA that was on the D:/ is extremly important and I need to do whatever it takes to retrieve the data.
