Bought a new Dell laptop for a group I belong to then loaded Windows Office Pro on it. (Using Windows XP operating system)

I can get a shortcut icon to the desktop but it gives me an error message: Windows cannot access the specified file... You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

I have a similar problem when I click the "My Documents" icon on the desktop getting the message: Your current security settings do not allow this action.

FYI, I do show as the Computer Administrator. How do I correct this? I can't seem to find a place to change security settings for these permissions. Thanks

You might want to post this in the operating systems section. It's not an Office problem.

Good luck!
