I have rebuilt a computer (new mb, processor, etc.). But, the hard drive is from a formerly used computer and had xp installed. It would not boot, of course, so I tried to setup xp from the cd. When the initial blue setup screen gets to the line "setup is loading files (Kernel Debugger DLL)... it just stops. There is no hard drive activity or CD activity.

Can anyone give me an idea of what could be happening?

I very much appreciate it.

A lot of WinXP installation problems are caused by bad memory. Can you swap a different memory stick?

It turned out to be the memory as micker suggested. Thanks.
