There is no such official release!
Where did you find that?

Pre betas are never a good idea, certainly not if they come from unofficial site.
Plus, regardless of that, don't expect new 'features' in a service pack, that is for fixes and updates only.
Regarding features i think at some point MS
has to implement some changes for XP over the next years.
it getting "old"
This might be driven by that Longhorn is announced to be delayed to 2006 .
Windows 2003 server sp1 will allow xp clients to seamlessly
connect to ip sones without all the autification stuff for different sones.
Thats one new feature for sp2 i guess .
MS announced SP2 ahead of schedule, for December 2003!
There will be no new features, just most security patches.
For instanve, the build in Firewall wiil default to ON! Some of us will not like that, but the again it is a good move for the ignorant home user.
From then on, patches will be bundled on a Monthly base, unless an urgent issue arises.
I personally will wait for the official one .
The comps i use myself with xp , and the ones at the company with sp1 and auto updating enabled is not giving much problems .The W2K workstations seems to be more stable though in office enviroment.
Strange that none of the readers in the forum has installed it , it's out on the internet and with full uninstall . I remember there was a race/sport before Sp1 became official to get the betas .
The December one will be the official one, not the prebeta!
