XP keeps shutting down you get a mesage and something about RPC but why it does it I dont know..Any idea?

Sounds like you have a virus there Les. Have you got up to date anti-virus software running ? If not goto:
and download the stinger tool, it is not a replacment for anti virus software but will remove some of the more "popular" ones. I'd advise you to get some antivirus software
do a free version with regular updates. Windows xp service pack 2 would be advisiable too.

You have blaster or Sasser. Sasser most likely from the RPC error.
When the shutdown timer appears, immediately click Start, Run, and enter: shutdown -a
. Enable the native XP firewall. Then go to both of these sites:
