I'm new to XP, so please forgive me if this question seems silly. I've heard many complaints about XP - but always in the form of "XP Home sucks - you should get Pro". My husband and I just purchased two new Dell Dimension 4600s (P4 2.4ghz, 512 RAM), and they came with XP Home pre-installed. So far, I'm liking it... but I worry. I loved 2000 (as compared to 95 and 98), and I don't want to get "attached" to an inferior operating system.

What's with all the hubbub about Home being inferior to Pro? What are the differences? How do I upgrade? And, more importantly, how much is it gonna cost me?

Thanks for your help!

If you are just using XP for home use then stick with it. XP pro is more for the office enviroment. XP Pro allows for you to attach your computer to a Domain Controller which you cant with home. Other than that there are very few other changes. I wouldnt bother with the upgrade.
