XP Pro machine, SP1, when logging on to a 2000 server, it takes like three or four minutes from password screen to shell. The "Applying personal settings" screen takes the longest, then everything seems to be ok. Any Ideas?

If it is the first time you log in the system the computer creates the profile so its a very slow the first time. But if it is all the time it could be that you are using roaming profiles and is having lot of traffic from the server because you have a lot of files.
Is this your case?
Tell me so i can give more specific solutions.
thankxs

It could also be a DNS issue. I had this problem with my home win2K domain controller. I had to manually point dns to the domain controller, then it logged in quickly every time.
