1. Open up regedit.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace.
3. Find a key named {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}.
4. Right click on it and delete it.
5. Find a key named {2227A280-3AEA-1069-A2DE-08002B30309D}
6. Right click on it and delete it.
Thank you bcastner. That really took care of it. Im wondering, how did it get there in the first place? I did have WinGate once, but I already uninstalled it a long time ago. I also noticed that my Simple File Sharing got disabled.
Has been in the Windows code since Win9x. Disappeared in Win2k with Service Pack 2; re-appeared with SP3 and since.
The intention is that an Administrator could remotely schedule a Task, and check the status; or check on print job status.
It slows down network share browsing considerably, as if the keys exist in the registry the remote status of scheduled tasks and printer status is check first before the file shares are enumerated in Explorer.
