Are you able to install 64-bit Windows XP Professional onto a 32-bit PC?

No when you put the cd in it will give you a message telling you your system is not compatiable or somthing like that.

What about a 36-bit PC? (i.e. using the /PAE boot switch)

sorry, 64bit means 64bit minimum...
