XP password problem

A coworker has XP on his office machine, he has been sharing his printer with two other 98 machines. On Friday it started requiring a password when any machine(including his ) tries to access the printer. No one set up a password.

Has anyone heard of this. Or have any solutions?

i would delete the printer, reboot a couple times, then reinstall the printer.

I would try removing the File and Print Service.

See if he can print from his computer without requiring a password.

Reinstall the File and Print Service if everything is OK.

This has fixed File and Print problems before.
