XP network failing

We have a windows workgroup with xp clients (both pro and home). Every once in a while our shared machine will deny access to one user or another (e.g. not allow access via Network Places or Remote Desktop).

The best fix I've found is to reboot the damn machine.

This is driving us friggin nuts. Any advice?

One more thing ...

The user most affected is a mobile and connects with wireless.

How many connections do you have to shared machine? (concurrent limit is 10 for Pro machines & 5 for Home machines).

Thanks for your reply.

I only have 3 machines connected to the shared box at any given time. The shared box is XPP so that should be plenty.

Sounds like your physical network may have a (intermittent - the worse kind) fault. Is the mobile the only wireless connection? Do you ever have the problem on any machines when the mobile is not connected? Is there any pattern to the denied access (might be worth logging them and what else is going on on all connected machines when they happen) - eg, somebody printing to shared printer.

(I'm just making suggestions).
