ok here is a question.

I have a Dell Precision workstatin with the following specs
2 1.8 ghz zeon processors
1 gb ram
a radion 9700 pro video card
a raid 5 array running with a Dell Perc Controller card with 128 mb ram on board.

this should be one bitchin system right?

well then why is it that when i click start it takes 15-20 seconds to pop up, then every menu i click under taht seems to take just as long?

It seems to stay about 10-20 seconds no matter how many times i go in the menu..

any ideas?

1. Turn off all the visual effects.
2. Update windows! Maybe this bug has been fixed.

Something uses your CPU up when you open a menu. Windows may be sorting all your startmenu items and indexing them every time you press start. It's an elusive problem. I'm sure someone on this forums has an answer though.

How does it go if you disable any Anti Virus Software?

See if you can get any ideas from this old thread.

Why it takes years to display right-click drop down menu?

Go into the registry, I'm assuming you know how based on that system you have, if not start - run - type 'regedit'

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Click on MenuShowDelay on the right hand side, right click and choose modify, change the value to a small number.

I have mine set to 0.

Then reboot, see if that helps you.
