Hi all

I'm buying a new PC (toy) for home use and the standard package comes with Media Center 2005, there is an option to upgrade to XP Pro for an extra £25.

What do you recommend?

Is media center based on XP home?

Cheers.

Media Center 2005 is based on Home yes. To my knowledge, the only thing you cannot do is join a Domain (it's greyed out in System Properties)...although there is an option to join a Domain during install, so maybe even that's possible.

Plus, Media Center is actually good for DVDs in my experience (WMP10 doesn't support widescreen monitors properly - it has black borders at the sides and top and bottom (i.e. it doesn't correctly use Anamorphic 16:9 or zoom in) when playing a widescreen DVD on a widescreen monitor, whereas Media Center does).

Cool i think that's the ticket for the home PC then.

I'm surprised it costs less than Pro.
