I was trying to load XP over W2K and it failed to load. I hace a 80GB hard drive partitioned in to C and D. The next time I tried loading XP it loaded on the second partition. I cannot get the C drive to start at all, even in safe mode. It loads a lot od drivers but then stops and justs sit there. I need to get XP to work on the C drive as I have all programs and a lot of data there. I have backup the data, but I don't want to reformat, if that is possible.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi,
did you clean install over W2k?? Or did you dual boot? If you dual booted boot into W2K, copy the NTLDR and the NTDETECT.COM files from W2K to XP, XP should now boot. If you didnt dual boot please provide more information as to what partitions and drive letters you have installed which operating systems and I can help you!!

I attemped the upgrade from W2K to XP on the c drive. When I reboot the system now the boot shows 2 XP to chose from. The top or first one is for the XP on the D drive as it comes up and works ok. The bottom or second one is for the XP on the C drive which will not start.
Thanks,
Dave
